Regional Council
Councillors have responsibility for individual areas (known as Portfolios), such as coaching, schools, etc. New Portfolio responsibilities will be outlined below in late June. Each member of the council will take on an area of responsibility, which not only reflects areas of interest, but also their experience in athletics. It means too that there is always someone you can contact with any questions, ideas or concerns.
Chair of Council: Tony Shiret (Chair) tshiret@englandathletics.org
Tony Shiret has been Chair of the London Council since September 2008. He is a former Chair of Newham & Essex Beagles. In 2008 and 2009 he was the Manager of the Beagles' British League Men's team that was unbeaten and won the BAL Premiership in both years and represented the UK in the European Clubs' Championships where they finished 5th. Professionally he is a Managing Director at Credit Suisse, an international bank, specialising in researching retail companies. Competitively he was a 400m Hurdler some time ago and his finest hour was competing with (well, behind) Ed Moses in the AAA. He has two sons under 11, both of whom run somewhat further and faster than their father.
Lorna Boothe hurdles100@blueyonder.co.uk
Lorna is a double Olympian and Commonwealth Gold and silver medalist in the 100m hurdles and GB team manager for 9 years which included being the Senior Team Manager for the Sydney Olympics. She worked for the IAAF and was part of the Academy Management Group responsible for the setting up of the IAAF Academy and World Class Coaches Club. She was also a part of the consultation team and then a development officer for the setting up and management of the Lottery Funded World Class Performance Programme. As a member of English Sports Council Racial Equality Advisory Group she worked with the Commission for Racial Equality to set up the now high profiled Sporting Equals programme. She is currently the European Athletic Coaches' Association’s General Secretary and on the Board of the Olympians Committee UK. At present she is enjoying a successful time coaching sprints and hurdles - primarily at junior level - and this year set up the Surrey hurdles squad with colleagues Judy Vernon and Marina Armstrong.
Steve Bosley stevebosley1@aol.com
Steve has been a member of Herne Hill Harriers for over twenty five years and has also been president of Surrey County and club as well as county team manager at cross country, track & field and sportshall in addition to being chair of the South London Athletics Network. He has organized events in all facets of athletics including co-organizer of athletics at London Youth Games. He enjoys all aspects of athletes whether dealing with newcomers having their first introduction to the sport or Olympic athletes.
Geoff Morphitis geoffrey.ca.morphitis@uk.gt.com
Geoff has been Treasurer and team manager for Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers for too many years to remember. The winner of the prestigious "Houdini" award from the British Athletic League for maintaining SBH in the BAL Premiership for ten consecutive years when all the pundits forecast relegation each year, he has also been an active member of the BAL F&GP committee. He was a founder member of the London Inter Club Challenge which has grown year on year with a record 430 competive performances at the first round of the 2010 competition. Most recently, he helped form the North London Athletic Network.
Peter Crawshaw peter.crawshaw@achilles.org 01737 761626

• Competitor: Hertfordshire 800m champion and a Blue at Oxford University
• Club administrator: Achilles Club team manager, Membership Secretary and Treasurer for over 20 years and closely involved with the organisation of university athletics
• Field official: after years as an ungraded helper, Peter took the exam in 2001 and at the end of 2008, was promoted onto the National Officials’ list. For the last five years, Peter has been a member of the SEAOA Field Sub-Committee and has served for the last year as a member of the General Committee.
