Track Academy and Laureus Sport For Good Foundation Taster Session for Young Leaders- 10th May 2012

10 Youth Leaders from Track Academy took some time out to show young leaders from the British Sports Council from around the world what they are all about.

Tower Hamlets Youth Sports Foundation joined forces with London’s City Airport to ensure that the spirit of the Olympic Games develops in the Borough offering students the opportunity to meet Irish High Jumper Deride Ryan during a Master class at Langdon Park School.

Paralympic Test event gives Potential Squad athlete chance to race in the Olympic Stadium!

As London 2012 fast approaches, athletes both here and abroad including the local community have been given the opportunity to utilise the facilities on the Olympic Park whilst staff and volunteers ensure everything is in place for a successful, safe Olympic and Paralympic Games. May 8th gave Natalie Gower, T35 Cerebral Palsy Talent ID Squad athlete the opportunity to make her mark on the track and put her training to the test on what will be the world stage.!

LiRF Qualified leader nominated for Queen Mary University Staff Award!

Queen Mary University was one of the first providers of sporting activity to come on board with the Run! Project in Tower Hamlets after meeting with Run! Activator Nicole Evans. Having successful securing an Active Universities grant at the beginning of the current academic year, discussions were had around the delivery of athletics – a sport they had yet to provide the students.

Older people throw themselves into the excitement of London 2012

Earlier this year Run! Activator Nicole Evans supported Link Age + and St Hilda’s East Community Centre in there submission of a funding application to Comic Relief. They were successful in their bid gaining financial support to deliver a series of taster events bringing the excitement of the Olympics to the older generation.

LiRF qualified instructor gets contract as Run England Activator

Jake Waldron University Student and LiRF leader first approached the Run! Athletics Activator Nicole Evans looking to gain volunteer experience within England Athletics whilst he completes his sports degree. He began delivering Run England sessions at the Play On Sports Centre in Tower Hamlets back in November 2011 and has continued to develop the groups; monitoring the group’s progress and building professional relationships of trust and understanding with both the runners and the centre the route begins from.
